Dr. Blosser is Professor of Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.  Born in China and raised in Japan, he earned his BA in 1976 from Sophia University (Tokyo, Japan).  In 1979, he completed his MA in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia).  In 1980 he earned his MA in Philosophy from Villanova University (Philadelphia).  In 1985 he was awarded the PhD in Philosophy from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh).

Blosser has held teaching posts at Duquesne University (1983-1984), Harlaxton College, UK (1999, 2003), and Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina (1984-2007).  He is the recipient of multiple academic awards, including the Raymond Morris Bost Distinguished Professor Award at Lenoir-Rhyne University (1990). He has also served as Great Books Seminar Leader annually at the I.D. and Madolyn Blumenthal Wildacres Retreat in Little Switzerland, NC (1986-2006).

His publications include numerous articles on subjects ranging from ethics and philosophy of religion to phenomenology, jurisprudence, Kant, Scheler, Hildebrand, and Wojtyla.   He is author of Scheler's Critique of Kant's Ethics (1995), and co-editor of Japanese and Western Phenomenology (1993), Of Friendship: Philosophical Reflections on a Perennial Concern (2002), and Advancing Phenomenology (2010).  Most recently he published a translation of H. G. Stoker's Das Gewissen: Erscheinungsformen und Theorien, entitled Conscience: Phenomena and Theories (2018).  He also served for many years as acting secretary and webmaster for the Max Scheler Society of North America, and has chaired various panel discussions at the American Philosophical Association and the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
