Each graduate receives five (5) announcements as part of the graduation fee. Please pick them up in the Office of the Registrar starting March 5. If you need more than five and did not request them in advance, please email email@example.com to inquire about the availability of additional announcements for $2.00 each. Please note: Announcements are not tickets to any graduation event.
Degree Candidates: Professional attire should be worn underneath academic regalia. (Pick up cap, gown, and hood in the Registrar’s office, no later than April 23). Your regalia will arrive folded and wrinkled. Please arrange for pressing prior to Commencement events.
Candidates for Certificates or Diplomas (CCT) or Basic Diploma (BD in Pastoral Ministry or Music Ministry), Intermediate Diploma in Diaconal Studies (ID), or Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Ministry are to wear professional attire.
All graduates are to proceed to assigned classrooms upon arrival (no later than 10:00 am), at the direction of Commencement Marshals.
Professional Commencement Photographer: (Commencement Day)
The seminary provides a professional photographer for the Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement. Photographs will also include each student receiving his/her diploma cover, as well as group graduating classes. Shortly after graduation, a link will be provided on the seminary website to preview and purchase photos of your choosing.
Please note: After Commencement exercises, you will be asked to closely follow instructions of the Marshals so that group photographs can be accomplished in a timely manner. Please ask your guests to go directly to the gymnasium where you will meet them for a reception immediately after the class photographs have been taken. With everyone's cooperation, you will be reunited with your guests quickly.
Solemn Vespers and Awards Reception:
(By invitation only; Degree Candidates), Friday, April 27 at 5:15 pm, Solemn Vespers will be held in seminary chapel, followed by a light dinner reception to celebrate degree candidates who have earned academic honors (refer to the 2017-18 Bulletin, p.78 for requirements). Honor cords and a select number of honorary awards will be distributed. The names of the honorees will be announced the week of March 20th. Invitations will be mailed to honorees in early April. You are permitted two (2) guests. RSVP your attendance and guest count to firstname.lastname@example.org or 313.883.8545 by April 11.
Please arrive no later than 4:45 pm. Wear professional attire and bring your academic regalia for Vespers. Marshals will direct you to assigned classrooms on the first floor. (After Vespers, you may leave your graduation regalia overnight on the coat racks provided in the classrooms for Commencement the next day).
Special Note for Transitional Deacon Graduates (after Vespers): As you will be on the altar for the Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, your academic regalia is to be placed on the hangers provided in the side sacristy (organ side of chapel) on Friday evening. This will allow you to quickly change into your regalia after Holy Mass and be seated with all the graduates for the Commencement Exercises.
Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises:
Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 am: Arrive no later than 10:00 am and proceed to the first floor classrooms with your guests going directly to the Chapel; the Marshals will assist you. There are no tickets for guests, and a limit of four (4) guests per graduate. Seating for family and friends is on a first come basis. RSVP your attendance and guest count to email@example.com or 313.883.8792 by April 18 (even if you do not expect any guests).
