Visit the Seminary

Sacred Heart Major Seminary welcomes visitors to its historic campus. Each year, Sacred Heart hosts numerous visitors who are interested in the many educational, scholarly, cultural, recreational and athletic activities that enrich the seminary and its community.

Sacred Heart is located in central Detroit on Chicago Boulevard between Linwood Avenue and Lawton Street. It is across the street from the Boston-Edison Historic District. This community of stately homes of eclectic style was constructed between 1900-1930 during Detroit's automotive boom years.

The campus is only one mile off the Lodge Expressway (Chicago Boulevard exit) and is easily reached from all parts of the Metro Detroit area using the major freeways.

Upon visiting the Sacred Heart Major Seminary campus, you may be questioned by a security officer located at the front desk. This officer may ask you to sign in and obtain a visitors badge so you may be more easily recognized by security staff while on campus. Students, staff, and faculty may be asked to show their SHMS ID badge. This is a security measure taken for your safety, and we appreciate your patience in this formality.
