Parish Empowerment Fund

The purpose of the Parish Empowerment Fund (PEF) scholarship program is to provide tuition assistance for eligible lay people who are interested in attending Sacred Heart Major Seminary. PEF provides scholarships to laity only, and cannot pay tuition for vowed religious, permanent deacons, or priests.

Applicants must be practicing Roman Catholics working as volunteers or paid staff in a city, suburban, or rural parish that meets the criteria of the Parish Empowerment Fund.

PEF scholarships are awarded once a year with applications usually available in June or July and are due in July.  If you received a PEF scholarship last year, to be reconsidered, you must reapply.

For more information or to receive an application, contact the Department of Parish Life and Services at, (313) 237-4696, or the Financial Aid Office at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, (313) 883-8692.
