Certificate of Catholic Theology
Sacred Heart Major Seminary will offer for the first time the Certificate of Catholic Theology at two parish satellite locations in the Archdiocese of Detroit and Diocese of Lansing continuing in Winter 2015 Semester.The purpose of the Certificate in Catholic Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary is to provide students with a course of study in the area of the foundations of Catholic theology. This course of study constitutes a partial fulfillment of the requirements for professional certification of lay ministers in the Archdiocese of Detroit, and it may be used as a component of the Associate of Arts in Ministry (A.A.M.) degree or the Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree. Can I get financial aid?
There are many financial aid opportunities! If you are doing any catechetical work (i.e. teaching catechism, RCIA, youth ministry) at a parish within the Archdiocese of Detroit, you may be eligible for a 30% discount on tuition through the Archdiocesan Catechetical Leaders award. Yes! New students must first be admitted before you can register for the course. All admissions materials must be submitted by one of the following dates:
How much time is required outside of class for study?
The course is an undergraduate scripture course. You can expect to put in roughly six hours of time per week outside of class meetings to do readings, papers, etc. This is an average time and will vary depending on the student.
