WiFi Guest Access

Overview

Wireless access to the university's online resources is widely available across campus, including most academic and administrative buildings.
 

Available networks

Throughout the main campus, the primary wireless Service Set Identifier (SSID) is listed as "SHMS_ResNet." This network provides wireless access to faculty, staff, students, and sponsored guests. You may see other networks while on campus, please be warned, these are not SHMS networks and may present a security risk for your computer equipment.
 

Requirements

  • A SHMS account, or wireless guest account
  • A  laptop with 802.11g or 802.11a compatible WiFi wireless capability
    or
  • A smart phone or other wireless device such as an iPad
 

Rates

Free of charge.
 

Obtaining Access

If you have an SHMS email address, please use your standard SHMS user name and password to access the wireless network.  If you do not have an SHMS email address, you may obtain temporary access by visiting the library circulation desk, or calling either (313) 883-8650 or (313) 883-8501
