Desert Golf Classic

All "Fore" the Seminarians

Each year, Sacred Heart Major Seminary gathers friends and golfers for an exciting golf outing. We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 32nd Annual Desert Golf Classic, to be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Inn at St. John’s Golf and Conference Center, in Plymouth, Michigan.
For over three decades now, friends of the seminary have supported this golf outing that helps to fund a unique feature of our priestly formation program , the Desert Formation Experience. Your generosity provides seminarians the opportunity for an intensive thirty-day spiritual pilgrimage, walking and praying in the very land where Jesus walked, taught and worked his miracles, or to the holy shrines of Western Europe, walking in the footsteps of the saints.
The Desert Classic has a distinctive format. Rather than the typical foursome, there are five players on a team. A priest serves as team captain and golfs with four team members in an eighteen-hole scramble. Golf is followed by a reception and an excellent dinner, giving you time to relax and compare scores with other players. The evening is topped off with an award presentation and the distribution of prizes
To register, please download the registration form here, and mail it back with your payment by Monday, September 8. If you are paying for more than one golfer, please complete their information or copy the form and have them send it to you.  The price for this year’s outing again remains the same as last year:  $125 for priests ($45 is tax deductible) and $300 for each lay team member ($220 is tax deductible).

We are always looking for new participants—golfers and sponsors. Sponsors will be recognized prominently with an individual greens poster and in the event program. Please email copies of the registration form to possible participants, or send them a link to this website. Contact our event manager, Emily Berschback, at 313-883-8782 or email with any questions.
On behalf of our seminarians, thank you for your support of the Desert Classic. Let’s pray for great weather!
