Anita Houghton is a Part-time Professor at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and a Masters Degree in Computer Science both from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, as well as a Masters Degree in Theology with a concentration in Sacred Scripture from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut.
Anita works full-time for the Archdiocese of Detroit in the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, where she serves as a Regional Coordinator of Catechetical Programming and Formation. Prior to this, she served as the Director of Religious Education at St. Sylvester Parish in Warren, Michigan. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member of Baker College where she develops and teaches classes for online delivery. Before working for the Church, she worked in the field of Information Technology as a Senior Programmer/Analyst for approximately 15 years.
Anita is a member of the SHMS Academic Affairs Committee and a member of the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership. Anita is married to her husband Mike, who was recently ordained to the Permanent Diaconate and assigned to St. John Vianney Parish in Shelby Township, Michigan. Anita loves to spend time with her husband and three teenage children. When the opportunity presents itself, she likes to golf, read, bike ride, and cook.
