The summer is upon us and it is a time for some rest (hopefully) and a bit of a break from the routine of the year. Many musicians will be going to the national NPM Convention the week of July 18 and we hope that those traveling will have a safe journey and will return with renewed enthusiasm for their ministry. NPM is one of the best opportunities for musicians to be exposed to new music, to be updated in the theology of the Liturgy, and to hone their craft.
Since so many musicians from the Archdiocese will be attending the convention, I invite anyone who might be in town that week and available to substitute for funerals to send your name and contact information to mcafee.dan@aod.org and I will compile a list that I can make available to parishes.

AOD Adult Choir – sings for the major Archdiocesan celebrations at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings, 7-9 PM at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Rehearsals begin August 1 in preparation for a jubilee celebration for Cardinal Szoka, a presbyteral ordination in September, and a diaconate ordination in October. In the spring of 2012, the choir may be premiering a new composition in collaboration with the DSO at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral! Please consider becoming a member of this faith-filled community of singers with your spirit and song!
AOD Children’s Choir – sings at Archdiocesan celebrations at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and participates in Pueri Cantores a Children’s Choral Festival a Regional Festival of Children and High School Choirs with Archbishop Vigneron. The AOD Children’s Choir participates in the televised Mass for Shut-ins too. The Children’s Choir rehearses 2-3 Saturday mornings per month at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral from 10-11:30 AM beginning September 17. Membership in the AOD Children’s Choir is open to students ages 10+, Grade 4 and above. Please call for an appointment before August 30.
