Dear Friends,

We have many things to be grateful for when it comes to serving the Lord in music.  Nothing can remind us of that more than when we lose one who has been a leader in the ministry.  It was with much sadness that we learned of the passing of Sr. Shirlee Hoski last week.  She was for many of us a great example of what it meant to be and live the pastoral musician journey.  She mentored many people and reminded us of the dignity of our ministry.  While we remember her life and good works, it is good for us to reflect on the many gifts we have been given by God and the opportunities we have to share them.  They are precious gifts, which breathe the very breath of God, only to be given back to Him in our praise, prayer and celebrations.  Let us continue to thank God for the gift of music in our lives and in the lives of one another who share the ministry.  We take Sr. Shirlee's example of being a true troubadour for Jesus.

We ask one another for prayers as we continue on our faith journey together.  Truly we are pilgrims on a journey who need the love and support of each other to bolster our faith and our commitment to ministry, and to witness through the gifts God has given us.   May this be a blessed week for all of us.

Queridos amigos,

"Joined Together In A Community of Love"
10 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2011
When we speak of Dr. King and his living legacy, we must realize that his vision was also Christ's vision. A real community where love is at the center of all we do. The Black Catholic Ministries of the Archdiocese of Detroit would like to invite the entire Body of Christ to join us as we together try to build a community of love. This year's celebration has been designed to involve both the schools and the parish communities.

The certification process has been finalized. The brochure can be downloaded below. If you have any questions, please contact Deacon Dan Gonos at 313-596-7312 or gonos.daniel@aod.org.
