Janet Diaz Dean of the Institute for Ministry
BA, MA, MAPS, DMIN Candidate
Mrs. Janet Diaz earned her BA degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh (1977). She continued at the University of Pittsburgh and earned her MA degree (1982) in Linguistics, with a certificate as an Instructor in English as a Second Language. Mrs. Diaz earned her Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 2008 and is currently a Doctor of Ministry student at Barry University.
Mrs. Diaz has been appointed as the Dean of the Institute for Ministry, the administrative arm of SHMS that serves its commuter student population. She also serves as Director of Formation for the lay ministry programs, in particular, the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies degree and the newly reorganized Student Learning Center at SHMS. As dean, Mrs. Diaz is a member of the SHMS Administrative Council. She also serves on a number of committees, including undergraduate and graduate admissions, and the MA/MAPS committee. Prior to being appointed Dean of the IFM, Janet served as the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management for SHMS. In her roles prior to coming to SHMS, Janet has served the Archdiocese of Detroit as the coordinator of the Archdiocese First National Encounter for Hispanic youth and young adult ministry as well as a regional coordinator for Hispanic ministry. She served as Pastoral Minister for Hispanic Ministry at St. Alfred Parish and archdiocesan facilitator of "Protecting God's Children" and "Called to Serve" programs for safe environments and child abuse awareness and prevention.
