Acolytes Serve the Altar
In preparation for ordained ministry, seventeen men—eight seminarians and nine candidates for the permanent diaconate—were instituted into the Order of Acolyte at the seminary on March 21, 2003. Their role, now, is to attend to the altar, assisting the priest in the liturgy.
His Excellency, Robert Morlino, Bishop of Helena, presided at the Mass of Institution. The seminarians installed as acolytes have a little more than two years of formation ahead of them before priestly ordination.
