The Third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday, "rejoice" Sunday. It is taken from the first (Latin) word of the Introit, the introductory phrase to the Mass. (The modern Sacramentary quotes from Phillipeans 4:4, which uses another Latin word for "rejoice.") Rose-colored vestments may be word to signify the halfway point of our preparation for Christmas.

Detroit — Cardinal Adam Maida has named 20 churches in the Archdiocese of Detroit as official pilgrimage sites for the Jubilee Year celebrating the Apostle St. Paul, with the promise of a plenary indulgence to all those who make a qualifying visit to any of them.

Detroit – Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Flores will celebrate "una peregrinacion y vigilia" (a pilgrimage and vigil), as well as Mass at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Thursday, Dec. 11, the eve of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Immaculate Conception feast falls on Monday this year

Detroit — The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Catholics celebrate the day when Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was conceived, is Dec. 8, which this year falls on a Monday.
